Franziska Droll

About me

Hi! It’s so nice that you are here 🙂

I am Franziska originally from the Black Forest, Germany. I moved to Scotland after falling in love with the country and the people. I was living in Edinburgh for many years when I moved down into the Scottish Borders near Peebles.

From a young age I wrote little theatre pieces for my friends to act out, sang songs whenever I could and also wrote stories and murder mysteries. When I started working as a tour guide, I finally realised my potential and joined the storytelling apprenticeship scheme with the Scottish Storytelling Forum.

By becoming a recognised storyteller, I have fulfilled my lifelong dream.

I have been telling stories for many years now and love that you can always discover something new along the way.

Telling tales is such a joyful profession that brings so much into this world. It is a unique and interactive art, using only words and actions to reveal the elements and images of a story. It is exciting to see how the listeners is becoming an active part of your story – using their own imagination along the way.

During my work in a residential home and with people living with Dementia it really highlighted to me the importance of combining story and song, together with simple movements as well.

When I work with children, I make sure to have a lots of visual aids and interaction planned, to make the telling as exciting and engaging as it can be.

An adult audience however, can feed of the word alone, combined with gentle music and motions.

Whereas teenagers always tent to like something in the middle.

If I learned one thing from being a professional storyteller it is that – Everyone is different and so is every story. In my job there is no day like the other. Being adaptable, constantly curious and ready to learn make a good storyteller.

If you would like me to tell you a story – do get in touch!

I can’t wait to hear from!
